Mini Maxwell is a multidisciplinary artist and activist who is from, lives, and works in Amsterdam. They are fascinated with human bodies and are drawn to the mediums of photography, performance, film and fashion. Their work is personal and political, and addresses social issues with a focus on the LGBTQIAP+ community. Their medium of choice often changes, but their focus remains on the human. Mini has curated, among others, ‘Queer is not a Manifesto’ at Stedelijk Museum/Radio Radio; ‘Womxnsday’, a yearly event at De Vrankrijk;Radical Queer Resistance Festival, co-founder Queer Bodies in Korzo The Hague and founder Queer Landing in Het Muziekgebouw aan het IJ. They are currently in post-production of a documentary film about violence against LGBTQIAP+ people, as well as working on a documentary photography project about ‘Spaarndammerbuurt’, a neighbourhood in Amsterdam, and programming for International Queer Migrant Film Festival 2019 onwards. They believe education is very important, which is why they work with children and teach them about fashion and gender identity. Mini arranges with love and on their own initiative cards, guest lists for queer refugees and newcomers at various cultural organizations.
