About the artist
Khadija El Kharraz Alami is a Brussels based artist who was born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They studied drama at the HKU in Utrecht, where she began to develop her artistic practice next to stage-acting. Her research and creations start from her own personal experiences. They draw inspiration from people and relationships in her own life. Her research practice is based on how anger can transform into a liberating act of generosity, joy and pleasure. In her work they uses performative elements such as improvisation where she leaves space open for the unknown to grow visibly in the present. A tool to disrupt and question the status quo with an imagined tangible manifesto. How do we engage and relate with the unknown in search of ourselves, love and loneliness? With her love for language combined with physical play, Khadija tries to develop a dialogue between the way we think and the way we act. Besides writing and creating her own material, she often draws on existing repertoire, mythology is an important source in this.
