Paint and photography
Hêja Akan is an independent artist and activist currently studying at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Painting Department. Leaning towards use of different and independent materials in her paintings, she usually creates her figurative compositions inspired by her own and the trans+ bodies around her. They engage with ethno-cultural matters and aim to produce queer art on a political ground given their Kurdish and trans woman identity. Her activism against sexism, ethnic discrimination and transphobia is intertwined with her creative process, being the most crucial component of the latter.
