About the artist
Berk Kır (b. 1997) graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University with a degree in Art History in 2019. He continued education through Kadir Has University's Master's Program in Preserving Cultural Heritage. Residing in Istanbul, Berk is a multifaceted professional, blending roles as an art historian, researcher, and artist. His work gravitates towards themes such as conceptual thinking, image theory, cultural heritage, the human-body relationship, and urban landscapes. Artist employs photography as an extension of his urban experiences, weaving them with his own physical presence as an active observer. For him, photography carries a corporeal essence that transcends mere documentation of specific moments, encapsulating a mosaic of observations accumulated over time. At the heart of his practice lies a collection of objects encountered during his global travels, each imbued with diverse meanings contingent upon geographical context. Unveiling these nuanced potentials constitutes the essence of his photographic exploration. Kır, who served as Samsung Turkey's brand ambassador from 2019 to 2024, contributed to the company's digital content development with his expertise. In recognition of his talents, he was named among the 150 emerging talents in European Photography by GUP Magazine in 2021. Additionally, in 2022, he received the esteemed "Young Talent of the Year" award from the Association of Photography Organizations.
