About the artist
I'm Alexis Lima, Peruvian visual artist, performer and trans activist. I use transgressive and erotic art to express the struggles and social experiences of minorities in the heterosexual society of my country. I am also known as "Faggy", a character that I created as my alter ego and I use it for some of my presentations as a response to the insults that people said to me when I was little. I focus on disciplines such as performance and public interventions in art galleries, video arts, events and especially in the streets, where I cover topics of political demonstrations, corruption, climate change, trans rights and classism. My main objective is to give a message about the reality of these problems and make people question themselves. Using recycled tools and materials in conjunction with references from Peruvian culture and mythology to transform them into artistic, fashionable and transgressive characters.
